Bromley & Croydon Women’s Aid is seeking to recruit a Trustee, responsible for the overall strategic direction of the charity. 

We are a well-established, innovative and forward-thinking domestic abuse service and are seeking a self-motivated, flexible and experienced individual to join the Board of Trustees to help us deliver excellent services to vulnerable women who have experienced domestic abuse. 

The role

The Board of Trustees are responsible for the overall governance of the charity, developing the organisations aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing documents and charity and company law. 

As a Trustee, you will act as an ambassador of the organisation. You will ensure that the charity pursues its objectives and operates towards achieving its mission, you will act in accordance with the feminist ethos of BCWA, will ensure the charity complies with its governing documents and the law, will ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, and you will be responsible for safeguarding the overall organisation, its name and values. 

We are looking for someone passionate about our mission of ending domestic abuse and other forms of gender-based violence. You are committed to social justice and the empowerment of women who have experienced domestic violence. The candidate should have a good standard of education and experience in relevant sectors including, but not limited to, charity & housing law, marketing & communications, Research & Policy, fundraising and financial management.  

Job Title: Trustee 

Availability: 6 Board meetings per year, plus additional volunteering time as required

Salary: voluntary position
